Group workshop for the construction of coaxial traps

with Alex, VE2AMT

During the 2005/2006 Fall/Winter season, club members assembled 40-meter coaxial traps, under the guidance of Alex, VE2AMT. The traps are a homemade design by Alex; they are fairly easy to assemble, cost is minimal (around $6 a unit). With Alex idea Serge VE2HLS created the 20 metres traps. Once completed, they were properly checked and tuned to frequency.

Alex began the workshop with a detailed explanation of RF, propagation and the trap concept. The assembly principle is simple and efficient. As well, the required material is readily available from a local hardware store.

The group then went on with the assembly of 20-meter trap, a balun and ended the session with complete 80/40 and 80/40/20 meter HF antenna systems.
